First online library for people with visual disabilities in PH launched in CvSU

Every public library must provide equal services to any person requesting them, regardless of disability. That is why, Cavite State University opens the first online library in the Philippines for people with visual disabilities.

In collaboration with the Gender and Development Resource Center and Bookshare Benetec, CvSU Bookshare Corner was established in addition to their online library and resources growing initiatives.

This library is a pioneer service provider in the whole Region IV-A and is available to all persons with visual disabilities. This includes people with dyslexia, blindness, cerebral palsy, and other reading barriers who can customize their reading experiences.

According to the university librarian Princess Roderno, this corner supports an inclusive development perspective for everyone.

PROCESS FLOW

  1. Search for the title of ebook(s) with audible narration you wish to access via https://www.bookshare.org/cms/
  2. Send your request via bit.ly/3i93DTh
  3. They will then deliver the ebook(s) with audible narration via email.

You may present one valid PWD ID or Certification from the Physician for certifying that you have a visual disability.

Bookshare corner is available from Mondays to Thursdays, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
