Cavite issues new order on wakes, necro services

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla issued an executive order (EO) outlining new guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 until the province’s modified enhanced community quarantine classification is lifted.

Gatherings for necrological services, wakes, inurnments, and funerals will be strictly observed under EO No. 48, as these have been identified as among the most common sources of COVID-19 transmission in the province.

Burial wakes for people who died from causes other than COVID-19 will be limited to a maximum of two days under the new guidelines.

Food and drinks are not permitted to be served during gatherings for those aforementioned activities.

Furthermore, gatherings will be strictly limited to immediate family members who provide satisfactory proof of their relationship with the deceased.

Cavite reported 420 new COVID-19 active cases on Friday, bringing the total to 11,500, according to the Provincial Information and Communication Affairs Department (PICAD).

On the other hand, there were no new recoveries or deaths that day.
