Gov. Remulla, ipinagtanggol si Sass Sasot laban sa umano’y diskriminasyon

Mariing kinundena ni Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla ang umano’y diskriminasyon ng Church of God (COG) Dasmariñas sa isang trans woman noong Hunyo 3.

Sa isang Facebook post, binigyang-diin ni Governor Remulla na labag sa isang ordinansa ang nangyaring insidente na hindi umano katanggap-tanggap na nangyari sa probinsya.

“What a shame! This is not what Cavite is all about… This is about people who use the shield of their faith to spread hate and bigotry where a church should be about compassion and tolerance,” ani Remulla.

Dagdag pa niya: “No matter what, continue to be a voice for those who cannot defend themselves. No one can silence the roar of a righteous cause. Nothing can dim the light that shines from within. I am on your side and the whole LGBTQ community on this.”

Matatandaang nag-viral sa social media ang bidyo ng social media personality na si Sass Roganda Sasot nang patayin ang microphone at ilaw ng venue habang nagsasalita ito sa graduation ng Southern Philippines Institute of Science and Technology (SPIST).

Ilang oras bago ang graduation, pinagbantaan din umano siyang huwag nang ituloy ang pagiging guest speaker nito dahil umano sa church policies.

Naglabas naman ng pahayag si COG Dasmariñas Senior Pastor and Bishop Anthony Velasco na hindi umano pinapayagan ng simbahan ang sinoman sa LGBTQIA+ community na magsalita sa loob ng kanilang ministeryo.

Dagdag pa ni Pastor Velasco, pinapapalitan din umano nila sa paaralan pang kanilang guest speaker bago pa man ang aktibidad bilang kondisyon sa pagpapatuloy ng seremonya, ngunit mistulang binalewala sila 

“[I] respect the LGBTQ community. They are human beings and for this reason we should respect life. But how about respect for one’s belief, respect for church’s rules and regulations, respext for the holiness of the pulpit,” giit ni Pastor Velasco sa isang pahayag.
