Kawit to offer free drive-thru COVID-19 test among drivers

Public transport drivers in Kawit, Cavite could get tested for COVID-19 at no cost as the local government ramps up its testing efforts for frontliners.

The local government of Kawit will hold free drive-through COVID-19 testing for drivers of tricycle and other public utility vehicles starting on Tuesday, September 28.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo announced the initiative will be carried out in the municipal hall loop from 9 am to 3 pm.

The mayor also said at least 500 persons per day could avail the free coronavirus testing, which will soon be expanded to cover other high priority sectors.

Moreover, Aguinaldo explained the testing was intentionally made to be drive-through to prevent overcrowding at the site and immediately isolate those who will test positive for the virus.

As of September 16, Kawit has a total of 2,121 coronavirus cases, with 255 active cases, 66 deaths, and 1,800 recoveries.
