The said festival retells the story of humanity’s salvation through a musical performance that showcases the journey of Joseph and Mary as they search for a place to stay in Bethlehem.
The word Maytinis is derived from the Latin word “Matins,” which means a Christian service of morning prayer.
Moreover, other floats depicting scenes from the Bible were also exhibited in the streets such as the Seven Archangels, Eba at Adan, La Purisima Concepcion, Noah’s Ark, Cain at Abel, Ang Pangako ng Diyos kay Zacarias, Haring David, Samson at Delilah, Reyna Ester, Pagdalaw, and Ang Pagbabalita ng Anghel.
Apart from that, other floats that made an appearance include the “Inang Pilipinas” and the float featuring former and current sponsors and organizers of the event, known as “Confradia de Sagrada Familia.”
Along with the floats are the marching bands playing Christmas songs, and people portraying payasos, and superheroes.
