Itinalaga bilang “legislative caretaker” si House Speaker Martin Romualdez ng ika-apat na distrito ng Cavite dahil sa hindi inaasahang pagpanaw ni Rep. Elpidio Barzaga.
Matatandang namayapa si Barzaga noong Sabado, Abril 27 sa edad na 74.
Naglabas naman ng House Resolution 1691 ang Kamara bilang pakikiramay sa namayapa ni Rep. Barzaga.
“Honorable Barzaga’s relentless pursuit of justice and his compassion for those in need earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues in the House of Representatives and his constituents in Dasmariñas City, and he will always be remembered for inspiring those in the government service with his integrity, kindness and dedication to serve the people,” base sa resolusyon.
