Grass fire erupts at vacant lot in Kawit village

A 2-hour grass fire hit a vacant lot at a subdivision in Brgy. Toclong, Kawit, Cavite on Monday night.

KAWIT, Cavite — A grass fire broke out at a vacant lot at a subdivision in Brgy. Toclong last Monday night.

The fire hit a grassy vacant area near Rockwell Classic Homes at around 6:45 p.m.

The town’s firefighters and policemen immediately responded to put the fire out, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby residential areas.

Authorities said there were no reported injuries and they declared fire out at 8:00 p.m.

Town mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, in a Facebook post, thanked the firefighters who rushed to the scene and reminded his constituents to strictly observe safety measures to prevent fire incidents.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire as of posting time but similar incidents had occurred in the same area during an extremely hot weather condition.
