P72-B deal signed for Cavite-Batangas, Nasugbu-Bauan expressways

The Philippines’ two biggest toll road operators have agreed to jointly undertake the Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEX) and Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway (NBEX), saving motorists some travel time between the said destinations.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) signed last August 14 a memorandum of agreement to jointly design, build, and operate the Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEX) and the Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway (NBEX).

The deal was signed by MPIC chairman Manuel Pangilinan and SMC chief executive officer Ramon Ang.

“Our shared commitment to nation-building has led us to this historic collaboration. Together, we aim to deliver world-class road networks that will serve as arteries of progress, growth, and development for our country and the Filipino people. This collaboration stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we are united in purpose,” said Ang.

“Together with SMC, we envisage a future where our CBEX and NBEX can help pave the way for connectivity and economic growth in the CALABARZON region. We look forward to leveraging on our respective strengths for the realization of this vital infrastructure project,” said Pangilinan.

The 27.06-kilometer CBEX will link the CALAX Silang-Aguinaldo Interchange in Cavite to Nasugbu in Batangas. It will traverse the towns of Silang, Amadeo, Tagaytay, Indang, Mendez, and Alfonso.

On the other hand, the 60.9-kilometer NBEX will connect Nasugbu to Bauan, Batangas.

The two new roads, expected to cost up to P72 billion in total, are targeted to be completed and opened to the public in 2027.
