KAWIT, Cavite — Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo and some local officials provided assistance on March 20 to the displaced victims of a fire that recently razed a residential area in the town.
Panelo on Saturday met with the victims of the fire that hit Brgy. Samala – Marquez on March 19 at Binakayan National High School in Brgy. Pulvorista.
Also present to give relief assistance were Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua, 1st District Board Member Davey Chua, some Kawit councilors, municipal officials, and barangay captains.
In his message to the fire victims via a video call, President Rodrigo Duterte promised residents of government support.
“Wala kayong problema sa pagkain,” Duterte told the residents.
On Friday morning, town mayor Angelo Aguinaldo initially visited the fire victims and provided them food packs and P5,000 cash aid per family.
More than a thousand families lost their homes after fire gutted down at least 500 houses.
The homeless families are temporarily staying at some local schools and at a church.
