PDEA destroys record haul P19.9-B worth of seized drugs in Cavite

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed P19.9 billion worth of illegal drugs in its Waste Management facility in Trece Martires, Cavite.

According to the Consolidated Report of the PDEA Laboratory Service, a total of 2.9 tons of crystal meth or shabu, and 306.7 kilograms of marijuana together with the following other illegal drugs were destroyed:

  • Cocaine
  • Ecstasy
  • Diazepam
  • Nitrazepam
  • Meth+Caffeine
  • Ketamine
  • Ephedrine
  • MDA
  • Meth+MDMA
  • Psiloscin
  • N-Dimethylamphetamine
  • Meth HCl
  • GBL
  • Ephedrine+Meth HCl
  • Liquid Marijuana
  • Expired Medicines

The illegal drugs were destroyed through thermal decomposition or thermolysis which totally breaks down chemical compounds with the use of heat at 1,000 degrees centigrade.

The destruction of dangerous drugs is in compliance with the guidelines set on the custody and disposition of seized dangerous drugs under The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The agency said this is the biggest-ever batch destroyed in a single day.
