The city authority of Imus has said that it had opened its own investigation into the alleged disappearance of 4,000 COVID-19 vaccines, which were suspected to have been given away to private companies that are willing to pay for the drug.

In an exclusive report aired on GMA’s 24 Oras last September 1, some city healthcare personnel went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office to express their concerns about the vaccination rollout.

According to the NBI document, the Department of Health CALABARZON had a “discrepancy” in the quantity of vials on their August 19 inventory record.

In a separate interview, Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi stated that individuals involved in this matter will be held accountable if the claims are proven to be true.

“At ‘yung mga tao talaga, kung talagang ginagawa talaga nila ‘to, dapat talaga magbayad [at] maparusahan.Kasi syempre napakahalaga ng bakuna ngayon eh tapos kung ibebenta pa, maling-mali talaga,” Maliksi said.

Despite the irregularities, Maliksi bragged about its fight against COVID-19, noting that they are still ahead of the pack in Cavite when it comes to immunization programs, with an average daily jab rate of 5,500 to 6,000 vaccines provided.
