The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered an investigation into the viral online post showing supposed election paraphernalia that were allegedly left in a vacant lot in Amadeo, Cavite.

In the photos uploaded by netizen Rodne Galicha on Facebook, boxes containing what looks like official ballots and voting receipts were found to be piled together and were purportedly disposed.

The uploader also suspected that the election documents may have come from the precincts in Tondo, Manila based on what was written as a label in one of the boxes.

In an interview with GMA News, Galicha said the photos were taken by an acquaintance after the elections although the person did not disclose the exact date they were captured.

Comelec acting spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the Commission had directed the regional election directors of Calabarzon and Metro Manila as well as the provincial election supervisor of Cavite to look into the matter.

The poll body also assured that they would hold accountable those who are behind the disposal of the election documents if the incident is proven to be true.
