Carmona, Silang, and Gen. Mariano Alvarez (Carsigma) are among the eastern municipalities of Cavite that have long been home to influential political clans.
The Loyola family does not appear to be willing to let go of their legacy in Carmona, as fifth district Rep. Dahlia Loyola and her husband, Mayor Roy Loyola, would just swap places.
They have ruled the town since 1995 when Atty. Roy Loyola won the mayoral race and was elected as the fifth district’s first congressman in 2010.
In the upcoming elections, the male Loyola will face a congressional candidate named Rhenan de Castro, while his spouse will face off against conservationist Ochie Tolentino.
In Silang, former mayor Omil Poblete, sister of incumbent mayor Corie Poblete, is making a political comeback as she runs for town chief executive.
Poblete will compete against five major candidates, including National Unity Party (NUP) candidate and provincial board member Atty. Kevin Anarna.
In its neighbor town Gen. Mariano Alvarez, reelectionist Mayor Maricel Echevarria-Torres will be challenged by the incumbent vice mayor of the town, Atty. Angie Paycana.
Echevarria-Torres assumed the mayoralty post of her father, Mayor Walter Echevarria, who resigned last August 2021 due to health conflict.
