Partido Reporma standard bearer Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson officially declared Tuesday his presidential bid in Imus City, which he also considers his bailiwick that could provide him a chance to win the top post in the country in the upcoming May 9 elections.
Lacson, his running partner Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, and their party’s senatorial slate were welcomed at Imus Grandstand by roughly 4,000 Caviteno supporters and several local officials, including Cavite’s 16 town mayors and four district representatives.
During his speech, Lacson stated that he opted to begin his formal bid in Cavite since it is where he was born and raised.

He also bragged about his good performance as a public servant and promised to keep it up by reforming the government system should he win the presidency.
”Kapag kami ay pinagpala ng Diyos na manilbihan sa susunod na anim na taon, ipagpapatuloy namin ang aming magandang serbisyo. Ang aming battle cry dalawa [ni Sen. Sotto ay ang] ayusin ang gobyerno para maging maayos ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino,” he said.
Moreover, Lacson urged Filipinos to vote wisely and to elect leaders who will honestly serve the public’s interest.

“Pumili tayo pong mabuti. Isipin natin ang kinabukasan ng ating mga anak. Isipin natin ang kinabukasan ng susunod na henerasyon. ’Wag na nating isipin ang sarili natin…alalahanin naman natin ‘yung ating mga anak, ‘yung magiging anak ng ating mga anak, ‘yung susunod na henerasyon,” he said.
“Parang natanggap na natin na ninakawan na tayo, ibinoboto pa natin. Hindi ba dapat tayo ay magising na sa katotohanan [dahil] tayo rin ang kumukuha ng pamukpok sa ulo natin,” he added.
Prior to the proclamation rally, the Lacson-Sotto team attended a mass at Imus Cathedral and had a tour around the Imus Plaza.
