Cavite mourns death of former president Noynoy Aquino

Cavite joined the nation in grieving the passing of former president Noynoy Aquino. He was 61.

The Philippine flags in Cavite have been flown at half-mast to mourn the death of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who passed away on Thursday morning, June 24. 

The 61-year-old “died peacefully in his sleep” due to renal failure secondary to diabetes, according to his family. 

He was pronounced dead at 6:30 am after being rushed at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City. 

Meanwhile, some government officials in Cavite took to social media to pay tribute to the late former President.  

In a Facebook post, Imus mayor Emmanuel Maliksi posted some photos of him and his late father former Cavite Governor Ayong to recall their meeting with Aquino, their political ally then.

Kawit mayor Angelo Aguinaldo also expressed his condolences to Aquino’s bereaved family and friends as he thanked the late chief executive for his public service.

Bailen Mayor Neila Angeles also posted on Facebook a message to pay her last respect to the late former President.  

Aquino served as the country’s 15th president from 2010 to 2016. He was the son of the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and late President Cory Aquino.
