Cavite still under MECQ until September 30

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) retained the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status of Cavite, along with several other areas until September 30, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Monday.

Also under MECQ are Apayao, Bataan and Bulacan in Region 3, Lucena City, Rizal and Laguna in Region 4-A; Iloilo Province and Iloilo City in Region 6; and Cagayan de Oro City for Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the IATF classified the National Capital Region under general community quarantine (GCQ) and Manila as the pilot area of implementation of localized or granular lockdowns.

“Maglalabas po ang inyong IATF ng guidelines for pilot areas kung hindi po mamaya ay bukas,” Roque said in his press briefing.

All other areas are placed under modified GCQ.

As of September 5, there were 2,080,984 total cases of COVID-19 nationwide, of which 1,889,312 had recovered, 34,234 had died, and 157,438 were still active.

Meanwhile, the government also lifted inbound travel restrictions on India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia starting today, September 6. 

This means that the travelers from the said countries may now enter the Philippines with appropriate entry, testing, and quarantine protocols.
