President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr suspended classes in public schools and work in government offices in Luzon on Monday, September 26, due to Super Typhoon “Karding”.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr suspended classes in public schools and work in government offices in Luzon on Monday, September 26, due to Super Typhoon “Karding”.

Marcos made the announcement on Sunday afternoon on his verified Facebook page following the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMC).

I have received and approved the recommendation of NDRRMC to suspend classes and work as specified in their letter. The Palace will issue a memorandum circular stating the same before the end of the day.

Marcos said the Palace will release a memorandum on the cancellation of classes and government work before the end of the day.

In particular, the suspension covers the following regions affected by “Karding”:

  • Metro Manila
  • Region 1 or Ilocos Region
  • Region 2 or Cagayan Valley
  • Region 3 or Central Luzon
  • Cordillera Administative Region
  • Region 4-A CALABARZON
  • Region 4-B or MIMAROPA
  • Region 5 or Bicol Region

In Cavite, Governor Jonvic Remulla and all mayors in the province earlier made a similar announcement on their respective official Facebook pages.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its 5 p.m. bulletin, said the center of the eye of Super Typhoon was located over the coastal waters of Burdeos, Polillo Islands in Quezon province.

“Karding” is moving slowly westward at 20 km per hour. It packs maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 240 km/h,
