Quizon, who was the youngest in the competition at 17, drew with fellow International Master Ronald Dableo in the final round but Quizon’s championship was already sealed in the penultimate round after he split the point with IM Jan Emmanuel Garcia.

Aside from a trophy and P80,000-prize, his latest victory also earned him a spot in next year’s 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam and the 2023 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand.

With this feat, Quizon also becomes the youngest winner of the event since Super Grandmaster Wesley So in 2009 at the age of 16 years old. So, born in Bacoor, Cavite, is now an American citizen.
