When COVID-19 halted any semblance of normalcy last March 2020, Filipinos were distraught over the drastic change and danger they faced. Filipinos reeled from losing their jobs and businesses and, students nationwide struggled with their studies.

More students were worried when the Department of Education (DepEd) sought to implement the ‘new normal’ class setup last October through modular and online learning.

Even though DepEd devised both learning setups to protect students and curb the rise of COVID-19 cases, problems arose as schools and students struggled to produce requirements for new normal learning.

Both setups are challenging since schools and local governments scrambled to acquire means to produce modules while students and their parents are troubled in finding gadgets for online learning.

Fortunately for the education sector of Kawit, the Local School Board (LSB), co-chaired by former Dist. Supv. Susan Aquino, and Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo, managed to procure 11 digital duplicators to aid school works and activities amidst the pandemic this January.

The LSB also gave public school principals and representatives 44 laptop sets comprised of laptop bags, mice, and pen drives. These equipment sets will help on-duty faculty members for school activities.

Mayor Aguinaldo said these tools, especially the digital duplicators, were provided to public schools to aid teachers in producing modules for students.

“Patuloy po tayong maglilingkod para maging kaagapay ng ating mga mahal na principal at guro. Ang mga ito po ay munting pagtanaw para sa kanilang serbisyong walang-pawi sa kabila ng pandemya.”, Mayor Aguinaldo said in his Facebook post.

On the other hand, The Lightseekers, Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National Integrated High School student publication, received two of six laptops dedicated for their school.

Mr. Earvin Sakilayan, The Lightseekers adviser, took to Facebook to thank LSB and Mayor Aguinaldo for supporting their campus journalism club, which has consecutively achieved honors and recognitions in journalism contests such as the National School Press Conference.
