Kawit posts zero active COVID-19 cases

The municipality of Kawit has recorded zero active cases of COVID-19 as of November 17, the first time since the viral disease surged over the town in April 2020.

Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo announced on Wednesday that the town was finally COVID-19 free after four of its remaining patients have recovered.

Moreover, Aguinaldo lauded the frontline workers for their efforts to the campaign against the pandemic.

“Lubos po akong nagpapasalamat sa unang-una sa ating mga frontliner mula sa Kawit, PNP, BFP, mga kawani sa munisipyo, mga barangay officials, at higit sa lahat, sa ating Kawit RHU sa kanilang walang katumbas na dedikasyon at pagsasakripisyo,” Aguinaldo said in a Facebook post.

The local chief executive also reminded his constituents not to be overconfident amid the town’s good news, but to be even more responsible in following health protocols.

He also urged them to get vaccinated against the virus in order to achieve herd immunity

“Sinisiguro ko sa inyo na iaalay ng ating tanggapan ang buo nitong atensyon upang masigurong ligtas ang ating Kawit mula sa COVID-19,” he said.

As of the same date, Kawit has registered 2,374 COVID-19 cases; 2,291 of these have recovered, while 82 died.
