Man charged with parricide for killing his father in Alfonso

A 78-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own son in Alfonso, Cavite, local police told ABS-CBN News.

A man was arrested and is facing a charge of parricide after he admitted to killing his own father in Alfonso, Cavite last March 16, according to a report by ABS-CBN News citing local police.

The lifeless body of the 78-year-old victim was reportedly discovered in front of the house of his youngest child at Barangay Luksuhin Ibaba.

Police Major Rommel Dimaala, the chief of Alfonso police, was quoted in the same report as saying that the authorities initially assumed the victim died due to sickness.

“We assume na that is natural death dahil ini-insist ng suspek na may medical condition, na posibleng inatake sa puso, doon tuluyan bumagsak ulo ng kanyang ama,” said Dimaala.

The police then conducted an autopsy to shed light of what really happened, results of which showed that the victim suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

A bloodstained ax and clothes of the suspect were recovered after the police revisited the crime scene.

The suspect, according to the report, eventually admitted to the killing.

“‘Di ko po talaga intensiyon gawin sa tatay ko… para pong may uma-ano sa isip ko na bumubulong,” the suspect was quoted as saying.

The police are looking into financial issues as the possible motive of the suspect.
