The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines reached 12,528 on July 8 — the highest tally since April of this year.

According to the latest Department of Health (DOH) update, 1,712 new COVID-19 cases were added on Friday, bringing the country’s total record of cases to 3,714,770.

Meanwhile, 3,641,603 people have recovered from the infections, while 60,639 people have died as a result of the disease.

In Cavite, there have been 220,007 COVID-19 cases recorded, 919 of which are still active, 217,610 have recovered, and 60,639 have died.

The province, which has a positivity rate of 13.2 percent, is one of the COVID-19 hotspots being monitored by the government.

Despite the increasing number of cases, no new announcement or protocol has been declared as of this writing.
