In celebration of World Environment Day 2021, youth volunteers have painted a “Save Your Dreams” mural that aims to create civic participation and socio-cultural involvement in environmental issues through arts.
This 18-by-86 feet mural project along the road of Malagasang-Bucandala Bypass Road in Imus, Cavite was spearheaded by multidisciplinary artist, Mark Steve Manzano in collaboration with different art organizations in Cavite.
“Saving your dreams is also saving our planet,” said Manzano in an interview with The Cavite Rising.
According to Manzano, Cavite is one of the many provinces in the Philippines that suffered from large-scale deforestation. Through this project, he wanted to call for awareness in protecting the environment.
He also mentioned that this kind of youth participation in addressing climate change helps to amplify their voices and actions in protecting their dreams and future.
The Philippine eagle in the center of the mural also ought to give eye-to-eye contact to passers-by as a way to communicate that their habitat is quickly destroyed.
Save your dreams!

Moreover, Manzano also shared that during these trying times, people tend to forget about their dreams and just focus on how to survive on a day to day basis.
Save your dreams as you save our planet.
