Cavite City, Kawit, Rosario start COVID-19 vaccine rollout

Cavite City, Kawit, and Rosario get the ball rolling for the COVID-19 vaccination of frontline health workers.

CAVITE — More local government units (LGUs) in the province have kicked off their COVID-19 vaccination program this Holy Week.

Cavite City

Cavite City launched its immunization drive on Holy Tuesday, March 30, with more than 300 health workers getting China-made Sinovac vaccine as of posting.

Mayor Totie Paredes together with City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) chiefDr. Jeffrey Dela Rosa led the roll out at the city auditorium.

Health workers from the city health office, Bautista Hospital, Cavite Medical Center, Dela Cruz Maternity Hospital received the jabs.

The city government is anticipating receiving more vaccines next month to inoculate the remaining frontliners and senior citizens.

Cavite City has earmarked P50 million last February for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines which are expected to arrive on second or third quarter this year.

Kawit

Kawit vaccinated on Holy Wednesday, March 31 a total of 264 healthcare workers from the Rural Health Unit (RHU), Binakayan Hospital and Medical Center, and San Pedro Calungsod Medical Center.

Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, in a Facebook post, thanked the medical frontliners for expressing their support to #TaasManggasKawit vaccination campaign.

In a separate post, he also urged his constituents to still comply with health protocols despite the vaccine rollout and amid the recent surge in new COVID-19 infections.

Rosario

Meanwhile, a total of 380 medical frontliners received Sinovac vaccine in Rosario during the first day of the city’s immunization campaign on Holy Monday, March 29.

The vaccination, which carries the theme “Resbakuna Tayo, Mga Taga Rosario” was held at the cinema hall of a mall.

The three LGUs began their respective inoculation drives after they received their allocation of vaccines from the health department.

Officials received some doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine from the Department of Health (DOH) a day before their rollout.

Other LGUs in Cavite have also commenced their COVID-19 vaccine rollout earlier this month, including Bacoor, General Trias, Imus, and Noveleta.
