Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), announced on Tuesday that it is planning to open in the fourth quarter of 2022 the expressway connecting CAVITEX to C5 Road in Taguig, which is now 20 percent complete.
Segments 2 and 3 comprise this 7.7-kilometer, two-by-three-lane expressway: Segment 3A-1, which connects Merville and C5 Road, has been operational since 2019, while Segments 3A-2 and 2 are still under development.
On the other hand, Segment 3B from Sucat to E. Rodriguez is scheduled to begin construction in the first quarter of 2022.
The ongoing road work includes ground improvements, concrete pouring, slab deck construction, a drainage system, and bridge substructure work.
Once finished, this P15 billion CAVITEX C5 Link will reduce travel time between CAVITEX and Makati and Taguig by 30 to 45 minutes, benefiting almost 50,000 motorists.
This will not only alleviate traffic congestion in Taguig, Makati, Las Piñas and Pasay, but it will also spur economic development which is critical in the country’s efforts to transition to a new normal.
Meanwhile, work on the P2 billion Segment 4 that will connect CAVITEX and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.
