The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is targeting to hold the special elections in the 7th District of Cavite early next year to fill the seat vacated by now Justice Secretary Boying Remulla.

If the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will push through in December 2022, Comelec acting spokesperson John Rex Laudingco said the special polls will be held in March 2023.

Otherwise, if it is postponed, they are considering the option of holding it in late December 2022 or early January 2023.

Laudiangco also reported that the poll body is already preparing for the guidelines for the implementation of the special polls, and that they are considering using automated elections because it is cost efficient and convenient.
