Along with the start of Fire Prevention Month, another fire broke out in a territorial enclave in Cavite City on the night of March 1.
According to reports, the fire began when a minor faulty electrical wire short-circuited at a house in Sitio Quadra, Brgy. 22-M, and it was immediately taken down.
Residents became more worried since this was the third fire incident that occurred in the city after only a few days apart.
The first incident happened on February 12 in a residential area known as ‘Palace’ in Brgy. 24 were dispersed over neighboring barangays, raising the alarm level to five.
Just two weeks later, on February 27, around midnight, at least 150 homes were destroyed by fire in Brgy. Aplayang Munti, 10-B.
As a result, the local government urged barangay officials, police, and firefighters to be ready following a series of fires in the city.
Mayor Totie Paredes also asked his constituents to remain calm and attentive in the midst of the spread of fake news claiming that the events were intentionally set on fire.
