Lakas–CMD welcomes new members from Cavite

With just over a week until the filing of the certificate of candidacy begins, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party introduced their new Cavite first district allies on Tuesday.

ROSARIO, Cavite – With just over a week until the filing of the certificate of candidacy begins, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party introduced their new Cavite first district allies on Tuesday.

Incumbent Vice Governor Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III, who was once a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), took an oath as the new member of Lakas-CMD.

Revilla has announced his intention to run as the first district representative against his rumored candidate, former Kawit Vice Mayor Paul Abaya.

The Chua brothers, Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua who is seeking re-election, Cavite City Vice Mayor Denver Chua who will run as city mayor, and first district Board Member Davey Chua, have also joined the alliance.

Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo and Rosario Mayor Voltaire Ricafrente, both members of Lakas-CMD since May 29, were also sworn in at the said event.

Lakas-CMD President and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez presided over the oath-taking ceremony alongside Deputy Speaker Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr., Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., and his wife, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Revilla.

“Welcome to the ever-growing Lakas-CMD. We will maximize the strength of the party to help our people in this time of COVID-19 pandemic. Let us not forget our true priority: to serve the Filipino people,” he said. 

Romualdez, moreover, believes that they are going to be “a resilient and victorious team in the 2022 election”, asserting that the party is re-emerging as a major political force.
