LPA intensifies into Tropical Depression Emong

The Low-Pressure Area (LPA) last seen east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar developed into a tropical depression at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 4.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the development of #EmongPH, the country’s fifth tropical cyclone past 10 a.m.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is now in raised over Batanes and some localities in Cagayan including Babuyan Islands.

The weather disturbance could make its way to the extreme Northern Luzon-Taiwan area starting Monday.

According to PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, they are also monitoring another developing tropical storm named Fabian spotted 120 km east of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro as of 3 a.m. Sunday.

PAGASA also said in its early morning forecast that the two storms are expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.
