Marcos Jr. issues proclamation creating new special ecozone in Tanza

An economic zone may contain any or all of the following: Industrial Estates (IEs), Export Processing Zones (EPZs), Free Trade Zones, and Tourist/Recreational Centers.

Another special economic zone is expected to be established in Cavite after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed a proclamation on Monday.

In Proclamation No. 513, Marcos Jr. designated at least 40 hectares of land to be part of the MetroCas Industrial Estates Special Economic Zone in Tanza, Cavite.

In a separate proclamation, the Chief Executive also issued another order to use at least 12 hectares of land to create Arcovia City, an Information Technology Park in Ugong, Pasig City.

Special ecozones are areas designated by the government to be a place of balanced agricultural, industrial, commercial, and recreational community.

Under Republic Act No. 7916, or the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, as amended, the President may create such economic zones upon the recommendation of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
