President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. graced the ceremonial turnover of housing units from the National Housing Authority (NHA) in Naic, Cavite on Monday, December 5.
Marcos Jr. personally handed the Certificates of Eligibility of Lot Allocation (CELA) and Transfer of Certificate Titles (TCT) of the 18,000 housing units to its beneficiaries in the said town, which are part of the 30,000 NHA housing units handed simultaneously around the country.
In his speech, Marcos Jr. underlined that the housing units project is one of the concrete steps taken by his administration to ensure that every Filipino has enough shelter.
He also expressed gratitude to the NHA for the construction project, which he saw as a testament to the government’s efforts to provide affordable but high-quality housing to his constituents.
“Kasabay ng mga tirahang ibinabahagi natin, tiyakin natin na mabigyan din natin sila ng pagkakataon na makapag-hanapbuhay at magamit ang kanilang mga kakayahan at talino tungo sa kanilang tuloy-tuloy na pag-unlad,” the chief executive added.
Meanwhile, NHA General Manager Joeben Tai stated that the public housing agency is committed to building 1.3 million houses under Marcos Jr.’s tenure to meet the country’s housing demands.
According to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), beneficiaries include low-income families, relocatees, and Kapatiran members or former rebels who have returned to the folds of the government.
Recipients of the said units will pay at least P600 monthly for the first five years from the property’s transition, and the amortization will increase every five years, with the expectation that they will fully own the property after 30 years.
Among those present at the ceremony were Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, 8th District Rep. Aniela Tolentino, Naic Mayor Raffy Dualan, some local chief executives, and NHA representatives.
