The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) incinerated seized illegal drugs worth P14.29 billion on Thursday at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. facility in Trece Martires City, Cavite.

According to PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva, this batch of illegal substances is the highest amount ever destroyed by law enforcement.

It included 2,076.523 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, 426.479 kilograms of marijuana, and 18.357 kilograms of Ecstasy.

These were destroyed using thermal decomposition, which uses tremendous heat to break down chemical compounds.

Meanwhile, Villanueva bragged that out of the country’s more than 42,000 barangays, 25,061 had been cleared, while 10,410 are still drug-infested as of April 2022.

He also thanked the drug enforcement authorities and other agencies involved for their efforts in combating illegal drugs.

“Ang inyong PDEA ay hindi titigil na harapin ang mga hamon sa labang ito. Kasama namin kayo at ang bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Tayo ay magtatagumpay sa laban na ito dahil sa inyong tiwala, suporta, at kooperasyon ng bawat isa sa atin,” Villanueva concluded.
