Remulla defends fellow Caviteño Lacson over Robredo remarks

This is how a party mate came to the rescue.

Governor Jonvic Remulla appeared to be in the spotlight again when he came into the defense of presidential hopeful Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and refuted Vice President Leni Robredo’s comment about the senator.

In his Facebook post on Monday, Remulla detailed Lacson’s career, from being a public servant as a police officer to becoming one of the country’s legislators.

“To describe him as ‘all talk and no action’ is an injustice to the man who embodies ‘leadership by example’ with 50 years of public service from law enforcement, legislation, and humanitarian work,” Remulla said.

To recall, when asked why Filipinos should not vote for Lacson, Robredo clearly responded, “Maraming salita, pero kulang sa on the ground na gawa.” (He talks a lot but lacks on-the-ground action.)

Remulla expressed hope that Robredo would heed his “advice” that “no matter what happens, please do not give in to hate.”

“The same goes to her supporters. The best way to champion your candidate or political stand is not through hate and divisiveness. You can never convince other people to join your cause if all you do is look down, insult, ridicule and alienate those who do not share the same views as you,” he added.

The governor further highlighted that it is not an endorsing act, noting that he is simply doing what is right to protect his fellow Caviteño.

Remulla is a member of the National Unity Party, which endorses Lacson as their presidential bet for the 2022 polls.
