Some politicians in Cavite are preserving their lines in their respective lone districts in the 2022 national elections, pledging the continuation of their legacy and the improvement of their services.
Cavite’s 2nd district Rep. Strike Revilla, together with his sister-in-law Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, wooed Bacooreños on the first day of the local campaign on Friday, as they are about to switch positions again this year.
Cong. Revilla’s sister, Councilor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, will be his running mate, while his nephew Ram Revilla also joined his team running as provincial board member.
In the city of Imus, Cong. Alex “AA” Advincula and his son, Councilor Adrian Jay “AJ” Advincula, are running unopposed for mayor and congressman, respectively, in the third legislative district.
The Advinculas will be joined in their slate by another well-known politician, former Imus mayor Homer Saquilayan, who will run as vice mayor, and his niece, Yen Saquilayan, who will run as a councilor.
Meanwhile, in the lone district of Dasmariñas, National Unity Party president and Cong. Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga with his wife, Mayor Jennifer Austria-Barzaga, are gunning for another term on May 9. Their son, Councilor Kiko Barzaga, is also seeking reelection under their ticket.
In the sixth district of Cavite, the Ferrer brothers are also running uncontested. Antonio “Ony” Ferrer, the incumbent mayor of Gen. Trias City, is vying to take over his congressional seat from Cong. Luis “Jon-Jon” Ferrer IV, who is now running for mayor.
The two have ruled the newly formed lone district even before its cityhood in 2018.
