The city government of Tagaytay rolled out the Resbakuna Kids COVID-19 vaccination drive for more than 200 children aged 5-11 years old on Wednesday.

The city government of Tagaytay rolled out the Resbakuna Kids COVID-19 vaccination drive for more than 200 children aged 5-11 years old on Wednesday.

The program was launched in Skyranch Tagaytay with several children, including young grade-schoolers, inoculated to kick off the ceremonial events headed by city government officials.

Tagaytay City Vice Mayor Reymond Ambion together with the provincial health and local officers started the ceremonial vaccination rollout.

The vaccination site was decked in festive and colorful decorations, with some comic book superheroes and balloons in every corner to keep the children entertained.

Moreover, the kids received toys after getting their much-needed protection against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque encourages parents have their kids jabbed. He also allayed their worries on the possible adverse effects of the vaccine on their children. He said that the benefits will definitely outweigh the possible risks.

“The risk of minor side effects versus the benefit of being able to start face-to-face classes, obviously that benefit outweighs whatever minor risk there might be. The risks are manageable,” he said in an event held at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

The pediatric vaccinees will receive a Pfizer jab with a different formulation and will be administered in two doses.

The National Task Force Against COVID-19 said the government will procure 30 million doses for this population.

The Philippines started the rolled out the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children on February 7 in various hospitals across the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.

The government is targeting to inoculate around 15.56 million individuals belonging to the said age group.
