Remulla, Tolentino get fresh term as governor, vice governor in landslide win

Incumbent Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla will have a new gubernatorial term with his running-mate Athena Tolentino after garnering more votes than their rivals.

Incumbent Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla will have a new gubernatorial term with his running-mate Athena Tolentino after garnering more votes than their rivals.

The official results from the Commission on Elections showed that Remulla garnered 1,368,199 votes over three gubernatorial hopefuls.

Meanwhile, Tagaytay City Councilor Athena Tolentino got a landslide win over her opponent with almost 1.2 million votes.

In his speech via a Facebook live session on May 9, Remulla thanked all his supporters for giving him a fresh start and he asked everyone to bury hate and start healing.

Remulla has been Cavite Governor since 2019. He previously held the position from 2010 to 2016.

Meanwhile, Athena will continue the Tolentino political dynasty in Cavite. She is the daughter of Cavite 8th District Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino.

Her sister, Aniela Tolentino, is set to change the current position of his father as she was proclaimed the new Cavite 8th District representative.
