Sangley’s bid deadline extended until June 28

The provincial government has once again extended the deadline to buy bid documents for the Sangley Point International Airport (SPIA) project.

CAVITE – The provincial government has once again extended the deadline to buy bid documents for the Sangley Point International Airport (SPIA) project.

In a report by BusinessWorld, Cavite’s Public-Private Partnership Selection Committee Legal Officer Jesse Grepo said that the deadline for the purchase of the Request for Proposals (RFP) and the registration of candidate Joint Venture (JV) partners have been extended from May 14 until June 28 of this year due to the pandemic-induced restrictions imposed on the province.

Grepo also stated that the JV proposal and bid submission deadlines are also lengthened with the new deadlines to be announced in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the Cavite government is eyeing to sign the joint venture and development agreement by around July 1.

Earlier this year, the province allowed its future partner to co-own reclaimed part of the project, however, it should be Filipino-majority owned and controlled.

The chosen partner should contract out or perform engineering, procurement, and construction services for the 1,500-hectare project and airport development components.

Moreover, they are responsible to provide the necessary equity investment and debt financing.

As of March 18, two companies have expressed interest in the said project according to the selection committee.
